Bio
Chris grew up in an industrial neighborhood in Pittsburgh. Her childhood was spent wandering the railroad tracks by her house, collecting natural and industrial ephemera, and visiting museums with a mother who was passionate about color. These experiences lay dormant until midlife while Chris pursued a career in economics. After a chance encounter with a ceramics class, the physicality of the material took hold. Chris subsequently enrolled in art classes at Montana State University, took workshops with ceramic artists, and studied techniques for clay and earth pigment processing with both Mexican and US artists whose work spans chemistry, geology, and generational knowledge. She currently lives in Bozeman, MT, and has exhibited her work throughout Montana and the Western United States.
